Hebridean Celtic Festival

An Lanntair Arts Centre
One of the best venues in Scotland for Trad Music, An Lanntair hosts a year round programme of contemporary art exhibitions, performing art events, cinema screenings and art and craft workshops for children and adults. Situated in Stornoway (40 miles from Mangersta).

UK Climbing Log-book (Sea Cliff Climbs in Uig)
A UK wide website which has detailed descriptions of sea cliff climbing around the Uig coastline. The Mangersta sea cliffs contain the most concentrated number of climbs on the Isle of Lewis, with poetically named routes such as "Painted Geodha", "Standing on the Edge of Time" and "Gneiss is Nice".

Uig Historical Society/ Comann Eachdraidh Ùig
Uig Museum/ Taigh Tasgaidh agus Tasglann Ùig, based at Uig Community Centre, is a treasure trove of information on local history, genealogy and archaeology, with a very interesting and informative website. The museum is staffed by volunteers and is open during the summer months(5 miles from Mangersta)
The Linda Norgrove Foundation
In 2010, Scottish Aid Worker Linda Norgrove, who was brought up in Mangersta, was kidnapped and subsequently died in a failed rescue attempt in Afghanistan in October 2010. Her parents, John and Lorna Norgrove set up The Linda Norgrove Foundation in her memory to carry on the work which Linda was doing to help women, children and families in Afghanistan. Visitors to the Mangersta Bothy (which was built by the Norgrove family) are encouraged to support their ongoing work. To make an online donation, please visit their website.
