Stylishly decorated with bespoke cabinetry and original artworks, the spacious open plan living/dining/kitchen is the perfect space to cook an intimate meal and drink in the splendour of a west coast sunset.

Take time to snuggle into the luxurious sofa and watch the drama of nature unfold in the large south facing windows. White tailed eagles soar across the moorland chased by ravens and gulls. Flocks of migratory birds pattern the ever changing weather scapes. A morning coffee can be spent gazing at the sun rising to the east of Mealaisbhal, or lost in views of ocean waves pounding over the gneiss cliffs and Mangersta Sea Stacks.

Mangersta Steading Open Plan Living/Dining/Kitchen

The kitchen is fully equipped for self-catering and has cutlery, crockery and seating for dining with friends. Binoculars are supplied for bird watching and wave gazing. If you can tear yourself away from the elemental landscape views a smart TV with blue tooth sound bar and satellite broadband ensure connection to the outside world.

Exhilarating hill and coastal walks start from the doorstep of the Mangersta Steading. Mangersta Beach is a 5 min walk down the track to the sands. The numerous shell sand beaches on the Uig peninsula will tempt wild swimmers, kayakers, surfers and hikers with endless opportunities for outdoor adventure. The utility room/entrance hall is therefore equipped with a washer-tumble dryer and has hanging space and a boot rack for outdoor clothing.

The eco-friendly cottage was designed and built by owner Derek Scanlan with interior cabinet making by Campbell Scanlan Design. Built from vernacular materials, the Mangersta Steading rests gently within the crofting landscape. As a new build with an EPC band B rating, it has a very low environmental impact. Air source heating keeps the cottage warm and cosy all year round. Located within its own fenced off garden the house has level access throughout from a free private parking space.

The nearby cow barn provides winter shelter for the Mangersta Croft small herd of Aberdeen Angus cattle. Depending on the season there may be ewes and lambs and cattle with calves grazing in the surrounding croft fields.

Sorry but the Mangersta Steading is not suitable for pets.

(Dogs are welcome in the Dog Friendly Glamping Cabins and Shepherd’s Huts down the hill. Please see the Mangersta Croft Holidays Glamping Facilities page for more details).

We offer an authentic farm stay at the heart of a working croft with gorgeous mountain and coastal views. Don’t just take our word for it! Watch celebrity Scottish chef Tony Singh MBE cooking a delicious meal from Mangersta Croft lamb, helping on the croft on a winter’s day and take a guided tour of his journey from Glasgow to Mangersta Croft Holidays in the Loganair short film “Singh on a Wing: Croft to Kitchen”.

Our family spent a wonderful day with Tony and the talented team from MBP films who perfectly captured the crofting landscape and Mangersta Croft Holidays location in their aerial footage.
